In mid-2021, Seqwater, replaced a series of valves located downstream of the Cameron’s Hill Reservoir complex in an area referred to as Barnes Hill.

Outcome

Engeny were engaged by Seqwater to carry out hydraulic modelling services to develop a temporary bulk network operating strategy during the valve replacement period.

Project Details

The Problem

The valve replacement works temporarily placed the Mt Crosby WTP offline, reducing Brisbane’s water supply capacity by approximately 50%.

The Details

The key objectives of the hydraulic modelling were to:

  • Optimise the available construction window to carry out the valve replacement works.
  • Inform the construction program.
  • Identify key risks with regards maintaining continuity of supply to customers during the construction period.
The Result

The outcomes of the project enabled Seqwater to safely carry out valve replacement while continuing to supply drinking water to their customers in a safe and reliable manner.
