Lismore Floodplain Risk Management Study

Location:

Lismore, NSW

Client:

Rous County Council

Scope of Services:

Engeny undertook a comprehensive Floodplain Risk Management Study for Lismore, New South Wales.

The study represents a key milestone in floodplain management for the township, with a complete overhaul of baseline hydrologic and hydraulic modelling.  Updated historical event calibration was also completed to inform design event simulation.

Utilising the outcomes from the design event simulation, a complete flood risk assessment for the township was undertaken. Numerous structural mitigation measures were developed and are currently being assessed in consultation with the project Floodplain Management Committee and Technical Management Committee.

Key project scope items included:

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic historical event calibration utilising URBS and TUFLOW
  • Design event simulation with Flood Frequency Analysis validation
  • Flood risk analysis, inclusive of flood damages assessment, climate change assessment, impacts on the community and evacuation and emergency response.
  • Identification and assessment of structural flood mitigation measures.
