Fairbairn Park Pavilion Upgrade Drainage System Detailed Design

Moonee Valley City Council

Fairbairn Park, Ascot Vale

Scope of Services
Engeny was engaged by Moonee Valley City Council to undertake the detailed design of the drainage system for the Fairbairn Park Pavilion upgrade. The drainage system for the Pavilion was designed to be capable of capturing and infiltrating storm events up to and including the 10 % AEP event, and to provide the Pavilion with flood immunity for the 1 % AEP event.

The system included a network of landscaped infiltration swales and a bio-retention basin which provided the dual function of providing drainage for the site as well as stormwater quality treatment to well in excess of the best practice environmental management guidelines targets. To successfully deliver the project to Council’s requirements, Engeny worked closely with the Open Space Planning team, Parks and Gardens and Technical Services teams and the City Works & Development Team. We were also able to utilise our knowledge and close working relationship with Melbourne Water to assist Council in achieving a speedy outcome with the approvals process for the development from Melbourne Water. We understand that Council has been happy with the quality of the for construction design plans that were delivered to Council in an extremely tight time frame.

The project has been constructed and is open to the public.
