George is the managing director of Engeny Water Management (Engeny). He has more than 30 years of professional engineering experience in water resources and environment, servicing government and private sector businesses.  His technical expertise has been instrumental in successfully leading, managing, and delivering numerous multi-disciplinary projects. George is a civil engineer with a masters degree in water resources. He is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), and holds membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia. In addition to his role as a managing director of Engeny, he remains involved in providing technical and management roles across a wide range of projects including:

  • water management and water infrastructure design for mining
  • undertaking technical and management roles on numerous complex, two-dimensional flood studies and floodplain management projects
  • providing ongoing review and advice on development assessment (DA) projects to local government clients, including expert witness in the P&E Court on a number of appeal cases

Dr Andrew Vitale is a director and sector leader for mine water management with Engeny Water Management. Andrew has more than 20 years of experience in the water resources sector and has worked in government, academia and engineering consulting positions. He has a bachelor and doctorate degree in civil engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). Andrew has been responsible for the technical delivery and project management of numerous consulting studies relating to flooding, drainage, stormwater and catchment management, dam hydrology, asset management, and mining and industrial water management. He has a special interest and expertise in:

  • water balance modelling for water supply schemes and mining, coal seam gas and other industrial sites

Susan is a chartered civil/environmental engineer and has 20 years’ experience working in a range of industries. Susan has extensive major projects experience across the infrastructure, mining, extractive industries and industry sectors and has undertaken water resource impact assessments for a wide range of projects.  Susan has prepared a number of project referrals under the EPBC Water Trigger. Susan specialises in projects involving civil and environmental engineering components relating to water resources. This has included hydrology, hydraulics and mathematical modelling of urban and rural catchments; total catchment management including erosion and sediment control and impacts of development on water quality; and floodplain management including flood modelling and hazard assessment. Susan has extensive major projects experience across the infrastructure, mining, extractive industries and industry sectors and has undertaken water resource impact assessments for a wide range of projects.  She has extensive experience engaging with government agencies and the community on water issues and is regularly engaged by clients to provide strategic advice in regard to water resources. James played a key technical role in the establishment of the SEQ bulk Water Grid and has continued to play a leading technical engineering role in infrastructure planning, system optimisation, network management, strategic and operational policy development and implementation for the water supply systems throughout the region. For over 30 years, David Gribble has undertaken investigative studies, provided technical advice and prepared detailed designs for urban planning and land development projects across Australia, Papua New Guinea and in the Middle East. In recent years, his focus has been on WSUD, waterways, flood management and stormwater quality improvement with an eye for climate change factors.  David holds a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a Master’s in sustainability sciences and a Post-graduate Certificate in adaptation to climate change. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer, is registered to practice in Queensland, is a Chartered Professional Engineer and holds International Professional Engineer standing. Key roles that benefitted from David’s skills and knowledge include:

Whilst studying, she developed her skills in urban water management through her final year research project. Completed in conjunction with the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities, she investigated the implication of climate change and increased urbanisation on existing urban drainage infrastructure and the effectiveness of governmental policy in mitigating urban flooding. Vanessa has worked on a number of flooding and water sensitive urban design projects with Engeny, further developing her skills in hydrologic, hydraulic and GIS software packages including MapInfo, QGIS, RORB, TUFLOW and MUSIC.  Vanessa's key areas of expertise include:

Joel is a graduate water engineer who worked previously for Engeny as an undergraduate and returned as a graduate in October 2016. Joel has a range of engineering experience from his previous undergraduate roles including oil and gas front-end design and safety in operations at QGC, and chemical materials research for solar cells applications and air pollution remediation. Joel is currently working in various sectors at Engeny, primarily the Flooding and Stormwater Management team and the Mine Water Management team. Tom joined Engeny’s Melbourne office in January 2018 as a graduate water resources engineer. He developed his skills for urban water management through tertiary studies electing to focus on water sensitive urban design, water and wastewater management, international river basin management, and civil hydraulics. For his final year research project, he investigated the capabilities of permeable pavements to mitigate flooding at the watershed scale using MUSIC software. Since joining Engeny, Tom has been furthering his skills with MapInfo, QGIS, RORB, TUFLOW, and is committed to developing his expertise in the domain of:

While at university, she gained foundational knowledge in WSUD and stormwater management, and through these courses - developed a passion for the water industry.  Following this, Therese has completed a vacation scholarship with CSIRO (Land and Water Sector) and a final year thesis investigating reliability of water supply in the Nara Canal. At Engeny, Therese aims to develop expertise in:

She has also been a member of the Victorian SME committee of CPA Australia which focuses on the issues faced by small to medium sized enterprises from both a business and regulatory perspective.
